Mark wrote as Jesus and His disciples, “did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many”, and in chapter fourteen and verse twenty-five of his book, Mark how Jesus said, “I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day”, where we read:
Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine,
until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
The verse reads, “Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, ...” Mark began with the word, “verily” which means “truly and surely” “I say unto you” or “Jesus utters, declares and proclaims to His disciples”, “I will drink no more” which means “Jesus Himself will imbibe no longer or further” “of the fruit of the vine” or “pertaining to the fruit from vines which produce grapes”. Mark shared how Jesus certified that He would no longer “drink” from the “vine's fruit” on the earth.
The verse continues, “... until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” Mark added the words, “until that day” which means “even till the time” “that I drink it new” or “that Jesus imbibes the fruit of the vine new” “in the kingdom” which means “within the royal power, kingship, dominion and rule” “of God” or “belonging to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Mark shared how Jesus said He would not “drink” the “fruit of the vine” again until He “drinks” it in “God's Kingdom”.
When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus made a declaration concerning the “cup” which He just provided to His disciples. Though He would “drink of the cup” by shedding His blood upon the cross, Jesus would no longer “drink” of that “cup” again until He was actually in His Father “God's Kingdom”. God desires every person to receive His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, and when they “drink of the cup of the fruit of the vine” as a reminder of His shed blood for them, they shall do so until the time God takes them home and provides for them “life everlasting”.
Next time Mark shares “when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
