Go into All the World and Preach the Gospel - Mark 16:15

After Jesus was crucified, was buried and resurrected Mark wrote, “when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept. And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not. After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country. And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them. Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen”, and in chapter sixteen and verse fifteen of his book, Mark shared how Jesus said, “Go you into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”, where we read:

And he said unto them, Go you into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

The verse reads, “And he said unto them, Go you into all the world, ...” Mark began with the words, “and he said unto them” or “Jesus uttered, declared and proclaimed to His disciples”, “Go you into all the world” which means “depart into the whole circle of the earth with all it's inhabitants within the human family”. Mark shared how Jesus instructed His disciples to depart into the entire earth to perform the following responsibility.

The verse continues, “... and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark added the words, “and preach” which means “and herald, proclaim, publish and declare openly” “the gospel” or “the good or glad tidings of the Kingdom of God” “to every creature” which means “to each, all and the whole group of human beings whether male or female”. Mark shared how Jesus instructed His disciples to go throughout the world and “proclaim” the “good news” of the Kingdom of God to every person.

When we think through Mark's words in this verse, we see what is known as “the Great Commission” when Jesus instructed His disciples to “declare” His “gospel” throughout the world. Every person was to know about Jesus dying for their sins so they could ask forgiveness from God and receive everlasting life from Him. Those who are wise will consider this “good news” of Jesus Christ, receive Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” and “proclaim” to others the great news of His Kingdom. Let all who read these words understand and believe.

Next time Mark shared how Jesus said, “He that believes and is baptized shall be saved”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
