Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life - John 14:6

The apostle John wrote how Jesus said, Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know. Thomas said unto him, Lord, we know not where you go; and how can we know the way?”, and in chapter fourteen and verse six of his book John shared how Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me” where we read:

Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.

The verse reads, “Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:” John began with the words, “Jesus said unto him” which means “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate uttered, declared and proclaimed to Thomas”, “I am the way” or “I, Jesus, exist as the traveled road and journey”, “the truth” which means “what is true in things appertaining to God and the duties of man in moral and religious truth”, “and the life” or “and the absolute fullness of life which is real and genuine, active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed in the portion even in this world of those who put their trust in Christ, but after the resurrection to be consummated by new accessions (among them a more perfect body), and to last for ever”. John shared how Jesus declared Himself to be “the journey, the truthful way to live and the absolute fullness of what living is”.

The verse continues, “no man comes unto the Father, but by me.” John added the words, “no man comes” which means “no person whether male or female arises and appears” “unto the Father” or “to the Heavenly Father God”, “but by me” which means “except through, by means of and account of me, Jesus”. John shared how Jesus said “no one” is able to “arise and appear” before the Heavenly Father God unless they go through Him.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus not only declared Himself to be “the way, the truth and the life”, but He also told His disciples there is no other “way” to get to God the Father unless a person comes through Him. Jesus is exclusive, and regardless of people saying “all roads lead to God”, Jesus was in opposition to that idea. No one else died for the sins of mankind, and no one else raised themselves from the dead three days after they died. No one else was sinless and perfect and went to the cross so people could live with Him and His Father God forever. Let all who read these words hear what Jesus said, “no man comes unto the Father, but by me”.

Next time John shares how Jesus says, “if you had known me, you should have known my Father also”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
