The apostle John wrote how Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me”, and in chapter fourteen and verse two of his book John shared how Jesus said, “in my Father's house are many mansions” where we read:
In my Father's house are many mansions:
if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
The verse reads, “In my Father's house are many mansions:” John began with the words, “In my Father's house” which means “within my, Jesus', Heavenly Father God's dwelling place and home” “are many mansions” or “exist a large and numerous number of dwelling places, abodes or residences”. John shared how Jesus told His disciples that His “Father's home” was filled with a great number of “dwelling places or residences”.
The verse continues, “if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” John added the words, “if it were not so” which means “whether there did not exist many mansions”, “I would have told you” or “I, Jesus, would have spoken and brought word to you, disciples of Jesus”. “I go to prepare” which means “I, Jesus, depart and leave to make and get everything ready” “a place for you” or “a district, station or location on behalf of you, disciples of Jesus”. John shared how Jesus declared that He was declaring the truth to His disciples, and if it was not the truth, He would have informed them. He told them He was going to “make ready” a “location” for them as well.
When we think through John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus said the abode of His Heavenly Father was filled with “dwelling places”, and He told His disciples He was “going” to make ready “a place” for them to be. God wants everyone to live with Him eternally in Heaven, and He sent His Son Jesus to the world to die for the sins that separated them from God so they would have access to their prepared “place”. God loves people, and Jesus declared the preparations He is making for everyone who believes and trusts in Him. Let all who read these words understand, God is for them, desires to have a personal relationship with them, and has made ready a “place” for them in Heaven by believing and trusting in His Son Jesus.
Next time John shares how Jesus says, “if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
