In Psalms chapter fifty six David asked concerning his enemies, “Shall they escape by iniquity? in your anger cast down the people, O God”, and in chapter fifty-six and verse eight of Psalms David said, “you tell my wanderings”, where we read,
You tell my wanderings: put you my tears into your bottle: are they not in your book?
The verse begins, “You tell my wanderings:” David began with the words, “You tell” or “you, Divine judge Jehovah God, account for, reckon and number” “my wanderings” which means “my, David's, aimless meandering and roaming”. David told Jehovah God that He accounted for his aimless roaming like a fugitive.
The verse continues, “put you my tears into your bottle: are they not in your book?” David added the words, “put you my tears” or “place, set, fix and establish, Jehovah God, my, David's, weeping tears” “into your bottle” which means “within your, Jehovah God's, skin bag used for holding liquids”: “are they not in your book” or “do not the tears of David exist within Jehovah God's missive, document, written order, commission and legal document”? David referred to the way Jehovah God put his weeping “tears” within a receptacle used for holding liquids, and he asked whether Jehovah God accounted for them within a written order or document.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David knew Jehovah God was keeping an account of every time he became a meandering fugitive, and he asked the LORD to place his “tears” of sorrow within a receptacle that holds liquids. David wondered whether Jehovah kept a record of all the times he cried within a written order or document. God sees our “tears” of sorrow and weeping, and He keeps record of them all. He knows when we suffer afflictions and trials that make us cry, and He is well aware of any enemy or situation that causes them. Jesus also “wept”, (See John 11:35) and we know He was a “man of sorrow, acquainted with grief”. (See Isaiah 53:3) God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus to the earth to suffer afflictions and die on the cross for our sins. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, not only are we forgiven for our sins and granted everlasting life, but we also align with One who knows what we are going through and who is able to account, reckon and keep tract of every “tear” we cry.
Next time David said, “when I cry unto you, then shall my enemies turn back”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
