In Psalms chapter fifty Asaph said, “Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, even your God. I will not reprove you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, to have been continually before me”, and in chapter fifty and verse nine of Psalms Asaph said, “I will take no bullock out of your house” where we read,
I will take no bullock out of your house, nor he goats out of your folds.
The verse begins, “I will take no bullock out of your house, ...” David began with the words, “I will take no bullock” or “I, Jehovah God, will fetch, lay hold of, seize and acquire not a single young bull or steer” “out of your house” which means “from and separate from your, people of Israel's, dwelling place, abode and habitation”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God said He would not lay hold of and seize any young bull or steer from their homes.
The verse goes on to say, “.. nor he goats out of your folds.” David continued with the words, “nor he goats” or “no and not any full grown or chief goats” “out of your folds” which means “from the folds, enclosures or pens”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God would not require or seize any fully mature goats from the pens or enclosures of the people of Israel.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God did not desire to “seize” or “take away” any of the “young bulls or mature goats” from their pens and enclosures. In other words, He did not desire the sacrificial animals of the people. God desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and enjoy eternity together. Jesus was sacrificed and died on the cross for our sins, and we have an opportunity to give praise, honor and glory to Him by receiving Him as our “Savior and Lord” and not just practicing religious activities and sacrifices.
Next time Asaph says, “every beast of the forest is mine”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
