In Psalms chapter fifty two David said to the wicked, “God shall likewise destroy you for ever, he shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah”, and in chapter fifty-two and verse six of Psalms David said, “the righteous also shall see, and fear”, where we read,
The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:
The verse begins, “The righteous also shall see, and fear, ...” David began with the words, “the righteous” or “the just, lawful and correct” “also shall see” which means “even so and indeed will behold, observe, discover and discern”, “and fear” or “and revere, be afraid, in awe, revere, honor, respect and be amazed”. David said people who are just and lawful will observe God's putting away of the boasters in wickedness and will be amazed. .
The verse goes on to say, “... and shall laugh at him:” David continued with the words, “and shall laugh” or “and will rejoice, be merry, deride and mock” “at him” which means “at the person who boasts in their wickedness”. David said the “righteous” would be merry over and mock the wicked and boastful people who are judged by God.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David knew people who are just and lawful would be merry over God destroying the people who boast in wickedness. They would be merry and rejoice over the people receiving the judgment of God. God loves people, and He offers His salvation through His Son Jesus to every person. When we receive Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. However, if we boast in our own wickedness and accomplishments and refuse and reject Him, we will find His justice will prevail and we will be put away. Let all who read these words take heed and surrender to Jesus.
Next time David shares how the righteous say, “this is the man that made not God his strength”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
