In Psalms chapter fifty five David said, “He has delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me”, and in chapter fifty-five and verse eighteen of Psalms David said, “God shall hear, and afflict them”, where we read,
God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abides of old. Selah.
Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.
The verse begins, “God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abides of old. Selah.” David began with the words, “God shall hear” or “the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God will listen, pay attention and hearken”, “and afflict them” which means “and oppress, humble and weaken the people whether male or female who are opposed to David”, “even he that abides of old” or “in the same manner and likeness he, Jehovah God, who dwells, remains, sits and stays from antiquity, from that which is before and everlasting”. “Selah” which means “exalt, lift up and pause to meditate upon it”. David said the Divine judge Jehovah God would listen to him, oppose and humble his enemies, and those reading and listening to his words should pause and meditate upon this idea.
The verse continues, “Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.” David added the words, “because they have no changes” or “since and on account that they, the enemies of David, do not own or possess any varying alterations or relief from their course of life”, “therefore they fear not God” which means “then, wherefore and on this account they, the enemies of David, do not revere, stand in awe of or honor and respect the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David said since his enemies do not alter in their ways of living, they do not have reverence and respect for the Divine judge Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David knew Jehovah God would attend to His enemies. God has always existed and always will exist, and He is more powerful than any hating foe that came against David and that comes against us as well. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins, wrongs, errors and mistakes of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and attend to those who oppose us regardless of the lack of alteration in their lives and their lack of respect for God Himself. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for providing redemption to us and protection against our opposing adversaries.
Next time David says, “He has put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
