In Psalms chapter fifty Asaph said to the wicked, “you thought that I was altogether such an one as yourself: but I will reprove you, and set them in order before your eyes.”, and in chapter fifty and verse twenty-two of Psalms Asaph said, “consider this, you that forget God” where we read,
Now consider this, you that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.
The verse begins, “Now consider this, you that forget God ...” Asaph began with the words, “Now consider this” or “then and at this time discern, understand, perceive, understand and give heed to the following”, “ you that forget God” which means “you people who ignore, mislay and are oblivious to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God instructed people who ignore and are oblivious to Jehovah God to discern and understand the following.
The verse continues, “... lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.” Asaph added the words, “lest I tear you in pieces” or “peradventure I, Jehovah God, rend, pluck off and pull in parts you, people who ignore God”, “and there be none to deliver” which means “and there not exist anyone to strip away, rescue and save”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God said He would rip the people in parts without anyone to rescue and save them if they continued to ignore and mislay Him.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God addressed people who ignored and were oblivious to Him. He said if they continued in their behavior, He would rip them in parts and no one would be able to deliver them. God is love, and His desire is to save people from their sins so they can forever be with Him. If His invitation is ignored, people bring upon themselves His judgment. God wants to forgive. God wants to save, and God wants to rescue every person who will surrender to His Son Jesus. Let us never be oblivious to Jehovah God and allow Him to “deliver” us before we stand before Him in judgment. (See Hebrews 9:27)
Next time Asaph shares how Jehovah Gods says, “whosoever offers praise glorifies me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
