In Psalms chapter fifty Asaph said, “unto the wicked God says, What have you to do to declare my statutes, or that you should take my covenant in your mouth? Seeing you hate instruction, and cast my words behind you. When you saw a thief, then you consented with him, and have been partaker with adulterers”, and in chapter fifty and verse nineteen of Psalms Asaph shared how Jehovah God told the wicked, “you give your mouth to evil” where we read,
You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue frames deceit.
The verse begins, “You give your mouth to evil, ...” Asaph began with the words, “you give your mouth” or “you, wicked people, stretch out and extend the orifice in the face used for eating, drinking and speaking” “to evil” which means “toward bad, malignancy, disagreeableness and displeasure”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God told the “wicked” they used their “mouths” to speak of evil and malignant things.
The verse goes on to say, “... and your tongue frames deceit.” Asaph continued with the words, “and your tongue” or “and your, the wicked's, wedge in their mouths used for speaking” “frames deceit” which means “joins, fastens and binds itself to treachery, craft and fraud”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God said the “wicked people” use the “tongues” in their mouths to join themselves to craft and fraud.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God spoke specifically to the way the “wicked” use their mouths and tongues. Although God created the mouths and the tongues of the “wicked”, they used them to speak of malignant, displeasurable and treacherous things. God desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus whom He sent to die for the sins of all mankind. He gave us our “mouths and tongues”, and He wants us to use them to glorify Him and speak of His righteousness and salvation to others. God loves us, and when we submit to His Son Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to use His miracle of speaking to glorify His name in the earth.
Next time Asaph shares how Jehovah God tells the wicked, “you sit and speak against your brother”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
