In Psalms chapter fifty Asaph said, “Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, even your God. I will not reprove you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, to have been continually before me. I will take no bullock out of your house, nor he goats out of your folds”, and in chapter fifty and verse ten of Psalms Asaph shared how Jehovah God said, “every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle” where we read,
For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
The verse begins, “For every beast of the forest is mine, ...” Asaph began with the words, “for every beast” or “because, since and on account that each, the whole, all and everyone of the living and active beings and animals” “of the forest” which means “belonging to woods, thicket and bushes” “is mine” or “exists as mine, Jehovah God's”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God claimed every animal within the woods, thickets and bushes to be His own.
The verse continues, “... and the cattle upon a thousand hills.” Asaph added the words, “ and the cattle” or “and the livestock, wild beasts and domestic animals” “upon a thousand hills” which means “on a thousand mountains”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God declared everyone one of the wild beasts and domestic animals that live on a thousand mountains to be His own as well.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how every animal in the world belongs to Jehovah God. Sometimes people believe they own their animals, however, God lends them to people to tend to and care for. God loves people, and His design was for people to care for His animals while they lived upon the earth, and all the while, the animals and beasts of the field belong to Him. God's desire is to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we yield ourselves to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to care for His animals “upon a thousand hills”.
Next time Asaph says, “I know all the fowls … and the wild beasts”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
