In Psalms chapter fifty Asaph shared how Jehovah God said, “If I were hungry, I would not tell you: for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof. Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?”, and in chapter fifty and verse fourteen of Psalms Asaph shared how Jehovah God said, “Offer unto God thanksgiving” where we read,
Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay your vows unto the most High:
The verse begins, “Offer unto God thanksgiving;” Asaph began with the words, “Offer unto God” or “slaughter, kill, sacrifice and slay to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “thanksgiving” which means “confession, praise and adoration”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God told the people of Israel to sacrifice confession, praise and adoration to Him.
The verse continues, “and pay your vows unto the most High:” Asaph added the words, “and pay your vows” or “and be in covenant of peace and soundness with your, the people of Israel's, promises” “unto the most High” which means “toward the Supreme ruler”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God the Supreme ruler instructed the people of Israel to keep their covenants and promises with Him.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God desires that people offer “sacrifice of praise and adoration” to Him, and they are to keep their covenants and promises made with Him. God desires truth and obedience from people according to His standards, and when we fail to keep His laws we sin. God sent His Son Jesus to be crucified on the cross for our sins because He wants an intimate, personal relationship with us. When we yield to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to keep our sacrifices of gratitude, praise and obedience to Him.
Next time Asaph shares how Jehovah God says, “call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
