In Psalms chapter seventy-seven Asaph said, “Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?”, and in chapter seventy-seven and verse fourteen of Psalms Asaph said, “You are the God that does wonders” where we read,
You are the God that does wonders: you have declared your strength among the people.
The verse begins, “You are the God that does wonders:” Asaph began with the words, “You are the God” or “you, Jehovah God, exist as the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “that does wonders” which means “who fashions, accomplishes and produces marvelous, extraordinary and hard to understand acts of judgment and redemption”. Asaph declared Jehovah God to be the Supreme God who performs and produces marvelous and extraordinary acts of judgment and redemption.
The verse goes on to say, “you have declared your strength among the people.” Asaph continued with the words, “you have declared your strength” or “you, Jehovah God, have made known, been acquainted with and confessed your, Jehovah God's, power, might and ability” “among the people” which means “in the midst of the members of one's nation, compatriots, countrymen, kinsman and kindred”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God made known His power and might in the midst of the people in his nation.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Asaph began to exalt Jehovah God as the God who performs extraordinary acts and makes known His power and might among the people of his nation. God makes Himself available to everyone not only through His creation, but also through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of the world. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to join Asaph in testifying about the “wonders” of God as we recognize how He shares His power and might with His people.
Next time Asaph says, “You have with your arm redeemed your people”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
