God's Servants and People - Nehemiah 1:10

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah prayed to Jehovah God, We have dealt very corruptly against you, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which you commanded your servant Moses. Remember, I beseech you, the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, If you transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations. But if you turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from there, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there”and in chapter one and verse ten of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said to God, “these are your servants and your people”, where we read,

Now these are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power,

and by your strong hand.

The verse reads, Now these are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power, .... Nehemiah began with the words, “now these are your servants” or “the people of Israel exist as your, Jehovah God's, men of servile condition, slaves and bondmen” “and your people” which means “and your, Jehovah God's, human beings both male and female”, “whom you have redeemed” or “that you, Jehovah God, have ransomed, rescued and delivered”“by your great power” which means “through the means of your, Jehovah God's, exceedingly mighty and noble strength, vigor and capacity”. Nehemiah shared how he appealed to Jehovah God by declaring himself and the people of Israel to be His bondmen that He ransomed and rescued them by His exceedingly mighty strength.

The verse goes on to say, “... and by your strong hand.” Nehemiah continued with the words, “and by your” or “and through the means of your, Jehovah God's” “strong hand” which means “ firm, mighty and powerful right hand of might and authority”. Nehemiah shared how God promised to rescue the people of Israel through the means of His powerful and mighty “hand” of authority.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Nehemiah continued his prayer to Jehovah God by stating that he and the people of Israel were His “bondmen” and human beings that He rescued and delivered through the means of His exceeding might and powerful “hand” of authority. God is able to save anyone who will humble themselves before Him, repent of their sins and put their faith and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was resurrected three days later. God's invitation to everyone has been offered through His Son Jesus, and all who are wise will choose to receive Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”.

Next time Nehemiah tells God, “let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
