According
to the writer of Hebrews, “it
is not possible that the blood of
bulls and of goats should take away sins”,
and in chapter ten and verse five of
Hebrews the writer shared
how “a body have you prepared me”
where we read:
Wherefore
when he comes into the world, he says,
Sacrifice
and offering you would not, but a body have you prepared me:
The
verse begins, “Wherefore
when he comes into the world, he says,...”.
The writer
began with the word, “Wherefore”
which means “consequently and for which cause” “when
he comes”
or “as the Messiah enters or arises” “into
the world”
which means “in the whole circle of the earth and all it's
contents” “he says” or
“the Messiah utters, speaks, affirms and maintains”. Because
Jesus was to be offered as a “sacrifice”
for “sins”,
it was necessary that He “come into
the world”
and make a declaration.
The
verse goes on to say, “...Sacrifice
and offering you would not, but a body have you prepared me:”. The
writer added the word, “sacrifice”
or “victims
for offerings” “and offering”
which means “the act of bringing, presenting and oblation”
“you would not”
or “did not will, have in mind, intend, desire or wish”, “but”
which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be
written takes precedence over what was just stated “a
body” or
“a corpse” “have you prepared”
which means “render, fit, sounded, mended and completed” “me”
which refers to “the Messiah”. “Sacrifices”
and “offerings”
were not in God's interest at this time, but rather a “human body”
“fit” especially for Him wherein He would dwell.
When
we meditate upon these words in Hebrews, we see the preparation God
made for Jesus to be “incarnated” within a human body that He
might “offer” Himself rather than “animal”
“sacrifices” and “offerings” which were
presented by the priests. Because Jesus became “human”, He was
able to “die” in His physical body, but as God, He also was able
to “rise from the dead”. Death was defeated, but only because
Jesus made Himself available as a “human sacrifice” for our sins.
Now salvation is available to all who “trust in, rely upon and
cling to” Him. May all who read understand and believe.
Next
time the writer asks “how
much more shall the blood of Christ”
“purge
your conscience from dead works”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
