The
writer of Hebrews made this statement concerning “sins”,
“where remission of these is, there is no more offering
for sin”. “Remission
of sin” paved the way for us
to have a relationship with God, and in chapter ten and verse
nineteen of Hebrews the writer shared how
this allowed us to have “boldness to enter into the
holiest” where we read:
Having
therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood
of Jesus,
The
verse begins, “Having
therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest ...”.
The writer
began with the words, “Having
therefore”
which means “Holding, owning and possessing accordingly,
consequently and these things being so”, “brethren”
which refers to “fellow believers who are united to one another by
the bond of affection”, “boldness”
which means
“confidence, freedom in speaking, frankness, without concealment
and unreservedness in speech” “to
enter” or
“to come or make way” “into the
holiest” which
refers to “the reverend, worthy of veneration and sacred place
which is set apart for God to be exclusively His”. Since Jesus has
“remitted” our “sins”, we may now enjoy “confidence and
freedom” to enter into the “Holy of Holies” where God resides.
The
verse continues, “...by the blood of Jesus,”. The
writer added the words, “by the blood” or
“through and by way of the bloodshed” “of Jesus”
whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and
is “the Messiah and Son of God”.
The access into the “holiest” was provided by the “blood”
Jesus shed for us when He died on the cross. Because Jesus “shed”
His “blood” on the cross, we now have access to God the Father.
When
we consider these words in Hebrews, we see the incredible advantage
Jesus has given to us through His “blood” sacrifice. We
now have “boldness” to go into the most sacred place there
has ever been – the presence of the God of the Universe. This was
God's desire. He wanted His created beings to have fellowship with
Him, and because sin separated us from Him, a provision for the
penalty of that sin had to be made. The penalty was death, and Jesus
paid that ultimate price for us. We have “access” to God through
the bloodshed of Jesus Christ, and everyone who believes in Him has
this “salvation” and “glory” available to them. May all who
read these words understand and believe.
Next
time the writer shares about “a
new and living way”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
