The
writer of Hebrews shared how God said He would “put”
His “laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I
write them”. In chapter
ten and verse seventeen of Hebrews the writer shares
how our “sins and iniquities”
God will “remember no more” where we read:
And their
sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
The
verse begins, “And
their sins and iniquities...”. The
writer began with the words, “And
their sins”
or “their offenses, missing of the marks, errors and mistakes”
“and iniquities” which
means “unrighteousness and transgressions of the law”. The writer
noted the “offenses and errors” as well as the “transgressions”
of the people for whom Jesus sacrificed Himself
The
verse continues, “...will I remember no more”. The
writer added the words, “will I remember” or
“God would recall to mind, remind, be mindful of and recollect”
“no more” which
means “never, certainly not, not at all and by no means further,
yet, besides and longer”. The promise from God was that He would
“not recollect and be mindful” of the people's “sins
and iniquities”.
When
we meditate upon these words in Hebrews, we see the awesome
forgiveness and grace of God Almighty. No only is He willing to
“cleanse and purge” us from our sins, but He promises to
“remember” them “no more”. Jesus Christ came to
remove our sins from us, and those who are wise will understand that
He is willing to forget all our “iniquities and sins”.
Next
time the writer shares how “there
is no more offering for sin”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
