The
writer of Hebrews declared that God did not “have
pleasure” in “burnt
offerings and sacrifices”
because they could not “cleanse” and “purge” people from
their “sins”. In
chapter ten and verse seven of Hebrews the writer shares
how “in the volume of the book it is written of”
Jesus where we read:
Then
said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,)
to do your will, O God.
The
verse begins, “Then
said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of
me,)...”.
The
writer began with the words, “Then
said I”,
which refers to “at that time Jesus was saying, speaking, telling,
declaring and uttering” “Lo,
I come” which
means “behold and see that the Messiah has arrived and is present”
“(in
the volume”
or “within the roll or highest part, extremity or end” “of
the book”
which is the Greek word “biblion”
and
refers to “a scroll, written document and writing of the holy
scriptures” “it
is written”
which means “expressed and composed in characters which give
direction and information” “of
me”
which refers to “God the Messiah, Jesus”).
The entire “holy scriptures” are “written”
and
“composed” to reveal Jesus Christ the Messiah.
The
verse continues, “...to do your will, O God”. The
writer added the word, “to do” or
“to bring forth, produce, cause, keep and perform” “your
will” which means “what one
wishes, commands, chooses, desires, is pleased with or has determined
shall be done”, “O God”
which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. The
revelation within the “holy scriptures” concerns the “obedience”
of Jesus the Messiah to the “will
of God”.
When
we consider these words in Hebrews, we notice how all scriptures in
some manner point to Jesus Christ the Messiah. Though it may be
obscure to us at times, in context we should be able to see the
promise of the redemption of man from his “sins” through
the Messiah, and when we search the “volume” of the
scriptures, we should examine how this relates to Him at all times.
Jesus Christ became the answer for the separation (which was caused
by sin) between God and man, and the entire “biblion” or Bible is
pointed toward that concern. Those who are wise will discover the
Messiah Jesus in “all” of the scriptures and realize we
have a God who is determined for us to know about His salvation plan
through Jesus Christ His Son.
Next
time the writer shares
how God did not desire “sacrifice
and offerings and offering for sin”
nor did He have “pleasure”
in them,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
