God
promised, according to the writer of Hebrews, that He would
“remember” “sins and iniquities” “no more”
after the “new
covenant” was introduced. This
was after Jesus sacrificed Himself as an offering for our sins upon
the cross, and in chapter ten and verse eighteen of Hebrews
the writer shared “where remission”
exists “there is no more offering for sin” where we
read:
Now where
remission of these is, there is
no more offering for sin.
The
verse begins, “Now
where remission of these is,...”.
The writer
began with the word, “Now”
which means “also and moreover” “where
remission” or
“whereas or whichever place forgiveness, deliverance and liberty”
“of these is”
which refers to “the violations of the laws of God”. The writer
notes the presence of the “forgiveness and liberty” from
violating God's “laws”.
The
verse continues, “...there
is no more offering for sin.”. The
writer added the words, “there is no
more” or
“there is no longer and further” “offering”
which means “a bringing to, a gift, present and sacrifice”
“for sin”
or “on account of and on behalf of errors, missing of the marks or
mistakes”. When “remission”
came, there was no longer a need to bring “offerings”
for sinful behavior, attitudes and actions.
When
we think through these words in Hebrews, we see the significance of
the “remission” or “forgiveness” of “sins”.
Jesus Christ “offered” Himself as the perfect sacrificed
for our “sins”, and there is no longer a need to continue
“offering” imperfect animal sacrifices to cover them.
Jesus Christ desires a relationship with every person, and He has
simplified the process immensely. Let all who read these words
realize and understand the importance of Jesus' “sacrifice”
and the value of Him “remitting” our “sins”.
Next
time the writer shares about “having
boldness to enter into the holiest by Jesus Christ”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
