Moses
“sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of
the ministry” according to the
writer of Hebrews, and in chapter nine and verse twenty-two of
Hebrews, the writer shares how
“almost all things are by the law purged with blood” where we
read:
And almost
all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of
blood is no remission.
The
verse begins, “And almost all things are by the law
purged with blood; ”. The
writer began with the words, “And almost”
which means “and nearly and hardly” “all things”
or “each, every, any, the whole, everyone and everything” “are
by the law” which refers to
“are through anything established and received by usage, custom and
command” “purged”
which means “made clean, cleansed and purified” “with
blood” or “bloodshed”. The
writer shared how “almost everything” within the “tabernacle”
as well as the “tabernacle”
itself were “cleansed” by “blood”
“sprinklings”.
The
verse continues, “and without shedding of blood is no
remission.”. The writer added
the words, “and without” “and
separate, apart and besides” “shedding of blood”
or “the effusion of blood” “is no remission”
which means “release from bondage or imprisonment and forgiveness
or pardon of sins”. The writer declared there is “no forgiveness
or pardon of sins” without “bloodshed”.
When
we think through these words in Hebrews, we see the importance of the
“blood sprinkling” which was performed by the priests. The
“tabernacle, the utensils, the book of the law and the people”
had to be “sprinkled” with “blood” for
“cleansing and purifying” purposes. Otherwise, the people could
not have a relationship with God. Jesus Christ offered the greatest
“blood” sacrifice ever known when He “sprinkled” His
own “blood” in the heavenly “tabernacle” to cleanse us from
our sins. May all who read these words realize, there is no other way
to have “forgiveness and pardon” for our sins.
Next
time the writer asks “how
much more shall the blood of Christ”
“purge
your conscience from dead works”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
