The
writer of Hebrews declared, “it was therefore necessary
that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with”
the bloodshed of animals, and he
added how “the heavenly things themselves with better
sacrifices than” “the
bloodshed” of the same. In
chapter nine and verse twenty-four of Hebrews the writer shares how
“Christ is not entered into the holy places made with
hands” but rather “into
heaven” where we read:
For
Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which
are the figures of the true; but into
heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
The
verse begins, “For
Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which
are the figures of the true;,...”. The
writer began with the word, “For”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore” “Christ”
or “the anointed one who is the Messiah and the Son of God” “is
not entered”
which means “did not go in or arise” “into
the holy place”
which means “in the reverend, worthy of veneration, sacred and set
apart place for services and offerings” “made
with hands”
or “constructed by the skill of men”, “which
are the figures”
or “that are the things formed which resemble another or is its
counterpart” “of the true”
which means “that which has not only the name and resemblance but
the real nature corresponding to the name and in every respect
corresponding to the idea signified by the name which is real and
genuine”. Jesus did not “enter”
into the earthly tabernacle which were constructed by men wherein the
“holy places” were
located because these were “images, symbols or likenesses” to the
“true holy places” in heaven.
The
verse continues, “but into heaven itself, now to appear
in the presence of God for us:”. The
writer added the word, “but” which
is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be
written takes precedence over what was just stated “into
heaven itself” which means “”,
“into heaven itself” or “the
region above the sidereal heavens and the seat of order of things
eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells as well as other
heavenly beings”, “now to appear”
which means “at this time to manifest, exhibit to view, show,
indicate, disclose, declare and make known” “in the
presence” or “in the face,
front or countenance” “of God” which
refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God
the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “for
us” which means “for the
writer and his readers”. Jesus entered, on our behalf, into the
“heavenly temple” wherein was “the presence”
of God.
When
we meditate upon these words in Hebrews, we realize how Jesus went
before Almighty God with His sacrificial “blood” offering.
He did not enter the “earthly tabernacle” which was only a
“symbol” of the true temple. Jesus entered into heaven who was
superior to any of the “high priests” that entered into
the “earthly tabernacle” which was constructed by men. Because
Jesus went into heaven for us, we now have access to a relationship
with God, and when we submit our lives to Him as Savior and Lord, we
shall have His promise of “everlasting life”.
Next
time the writer asks “how
much more shall the blood of Christ”
“purge
your conscience from dead works”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
