In Psalms chapter seventy-two David said of Jehovah God, “He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth. In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endures”, and in chapter seventy-two and verse eight of Psalms David said, “He shall have dominion also from sea to sea” where we read,
He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
The verse begins, “He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, ...” David began with the words, “He shall have dominion also” or “the royal ruler will dominate, rule, subjugate and prevail even so and indeed” “from sea to sea” which means “apart and separate from the large body of water such as the Red, Dead and Mediterranean Seas”. David said the royal ruler would dominate and prevail from one large body of water to another.
The verse goes on to say, “... and from the river unto the ends of the earth.” David continued with the words, “and from the river” or “and apart and separate from the underground stream or massive flowing river like the Euphrates” “unto the ends of the earth” which means “toward the ceasing, end and finality belonging to the country, region, territory, district and world”. David said the royal ruler would also dominate and prevail from the “massive flowing stream” to the end of the world.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David told about the broad dominion the royal ruler would have after Jehovah God blessed him. David blessed his son Solomon with the idea of an expansive kingdom, and the dual fulfillment in the progeny of David, Jesus Christ, was yet to come. God's intention from the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden was to save mankind from their sins. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for everyone, and when we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and make us a part of His Kingdom that will have dominion “from sea to sea” and “from the great river Euphrates” unto the end of the world.
Next time David says, “they that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
