In Psalms chapter seventy-one David said, “I am as a wonder unto many; but you are my strong refuge”, and in chapter seventy-one and verse eight of Psalms David said, “let my mouth be filled with your praise and with your honor” where we read,
Let my mouth be filled with your praise and with your honor all the day.
The verse begins, “Let my mouth be filled with your praise ...” David began with the words, “let my mouth” or “allow and permit my, David's, orifice in the face used for drinking, eating and speaking” “be filled” which means “exist as full, consecrated, replenished and overflowing” “with your praise” or “by the use of your, Jehovah God's, songs or hymns of adoration, thanksgiving and laudation”. David wanted Jehovah God to fashion his “mouth” to be consecrated and replenished with His adoration, thanksgiving and laudation.
The verse goes on to say, “... and with your honor all the day.” David continued with the words, “and with your honor” or “and by the use of your, Jehovah God's, beauty, splendor, rank, renown, glory and boasting” “all the day” which means “throughout the total of the sunrise to sunset”. David wanted his mouth to be consecrated with Jehovah God's splendor, renown and glory throughout the daytime.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn about David's appeal to Jehovah God to allow his “mouth” to be replenished and overflowing with adoration, thanksgiving and glory throughout the day. David wanted his life to glorify Jehovah God, and he desired that his speech, songs and orations to be overflowing with “praise and honor” to God. When we realize God loves us so much that He sent His only begotten Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, not only should we believe and trust in Jesus, but we should also declare, proclaim and sing songs of adoration, thanksgiving and splendor to Him. Let us join David in asking the LORD Jesus to fill our mouths with His praise and honor and use our voices to proclaim the beauty and splendor of Jehovah God throughout the day.
Next time David says, “cast me not off in the time of old age”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
