God Has Forsaken Him - Psalms 71:11

In Psalms chapter seventy-one David said, “Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength fails. For my enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, ...”, and in chapter seventy-one and verse eleven of Psalms David shared how his enemies say, “God has forsaken him” where we read,

Saying, God has forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.

The verse begins, Saying, God has forsaken him: David began with the word, “saying” or “”uttering, declaring and proclaiming “God has forsaken him” which means “the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God surely left and refused him, David, as destitute”. David shared how his hating foes declared that the Divine judge Jehovah God abandoned him and left him destitute.

The verse continues, persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him. David added the words, “persecute and take him” or “pursue, put to flight, attend closely and harass him, David”; “for there is none” which means “because, since and on account that there exists not one person” “to deliver him” or “to rescue, liberate and snatch him, David, away”. David shared how his enemies plotted to harass and seize him because there was no one present to rescue and liberate him.

When we think through the words in this verse, we discover how David's hating foes declared that Jehovah God left him destitute, and they planned to harass him because no one would liberate or rescue him. Though they made these proclamations, they were wrong. David had a personal relationship with Jehovah God, and God would rescue him. God desires to have a personal relationship with every person who will submit to His Son Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”. God sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we surrender to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and come to our defense against any hating foes who think no one is available to rescue us.

Next time David says, “O God, be not far from me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
