In Psalms chapter seventy-two David said, “The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness”, and in chapter seventy-two and verse four of Psalms David said, “He shall judge the poor of the people” where we read,
He shall judge the poor of the people,
he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
The verse begins, “He shall judge the poor of the people, ...” David began with the words, “He shall judge” or “He, the royal ruler, will govern, vindicate and execute judgment over” “the poor of the people” which means “the afflicted, humble, lowly and needy belonging to the compatriots, country-men and nation”. David said the royal ruler would vindicate and execute judgment over needy and humble country-men who have been afflicted.
The verse goes on to say, “... he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.” David continued with the words, “he shall save the children” or “he, the royal ruler, will rescue, liberate and deliver the offspring and progeny” “of the needy” which means “belonging to the oppressed, troubled, begging and destitute”, “and shall break in pieces” or “and will crush, make contrite, bruise, destroy, oppress and smite” “the oppressor” which means “the violator, defrauders, deceitful and wrong doers”. David said the royal ruler would rescue the offspring of the oppressed and smite and destroy the deceitful evil doers who afflict them.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see through David how the royal ruler would bring justice to people who are humble and weak, and he would rescue their offspring who are oppressed and destitute. Anyone who opposed these afflicted people would be judged by the royal ruler because Jehovah God gave him the power, wisdom and ability to carry out justice and righteousness for those who are troubled. God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a righteous and just way to care for and be concerned about the needs of the afflicted and wronged.
Next time David says, “they shall fear you as long as the sun and moon endure”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
