To Perpetual Desolations - Psalms 74:3

In Psalms chapter seventy-four Asaph asked, “O God, why have you cast us off for ever? why does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture? Remember your congregation, which you have purchased of old; the rod of your inheritance, which you have redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein you have dwelt”, and in chapter seventy-four and verse three of Psalms Asaph said, Lift up your feet unto the perpetual desolationswhere we read,

Lift up your feet unto the perpetual desolations;

even all that the enemy has done wickedly in the sanctuary.

The verse begins, Lift up your feet unto the perpetual desolations;” Asaph began with the words, “Lift up your feet” or “rise up, be lofty and exalted your, the Divine judge Jehovah God's, physical feet which is a symbol of His footsteps, occurrences and goings” “unto the perpetual desolations” which means “toward the eminent, victorious, enduring and continual ruin and destruction”. Asaph appealed to Jehovah God to allow His “feet” to be raised toward continual ruin and destruction.

The verse goes on to say,even all that the enemy has done wickedly in the sanctuary.” Asaph continued with the words, “even all” or “indeed and also each, every, the whole and everyone of the people” “that the enemy has done wickedly” which means “in whom the hating foe and adversary has perform and made ready bad, displeasure, sadness, injury and evil” “in the sanctuary” or “within the sacred, pure, set apart and holy place”. Asaph desired that Jehovah God would set Himself toward the ruin and destruction of the hating adversaries who performed evil and injury within the pure and sacred holy place.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how Asaph wanted Jehovah God to take action against His hating adversaries. He pled for God to ruin them because they performed evil within the sacred place. Asaph perceived the despicable acts of the hating foes, and he knew God could bring retribution to them. God's desire is to save every person from their sins through His Son Jesus, and because of this, He sent Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and encourage us to allow Him to contend with every evil act people perform within His sacred place.

Next time Asaph says, Your enemies roar in the midst of your congregations, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
