God Judging with Righteousness - Psalms 72:2

In Psalms chapter seventy-two David said, “Give the king your judgments, O God, and your righteousness unto the king's son”, and in chapter seventy-two and verse two of Psalms David said, “He shall judge your people with righteousness” where we read,

He shall judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with judgment.

The verse begins, He shall judge your people with righteousness, ... David began with the words, “he shall judge your people” or “the royal ruler will cause, plead with and minister to your, Jehovah God's, human beings both male and female” “with righteousness” which means “by the use of rightness, justice, justification, deliverance, victory and prosperity”. David said the royal ruler would minister to Jehovah God's “people” in a right and just manner.

The verse goes on to say,... and your poor with judgment. David continued with the words, “and your poor” or “and your, Jehovah God's, lowly, afflicted, needy and weak” “with judgment” which means “by the use of justice, ordinance and the act of deciding a case”. David said the royal ruler would “judge” the afflicted and lowly with justice.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David knew when Jehovah God blessed his son Solomon with his “judgments and righteousness”, he would “judge” God's people with rightness and justice. David wanted Solomon to be a good and just king, and the implication is that David's future descendant, Jesus Christ, would rule in righteousness and justice as well. God loves people, and His desire is for them to believe and trust in His Son Jesus who will forgive their sins, grant them everlasting life and give them the ability to come under His merciful “righteousness and judgment”.

Next time David says, “the mountains shall bring peace to the people”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
