In Psalms chapter seventy-five Asaph shared how Jehovah God said, “The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah”, and in chapter seventy-five and verse four of Psalms Asaph shared how Jehovah God said, “Deal not foolishly” where we read,
I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:
The verse begins, “I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly:” Asaph began with the words, “I said unto the fools” or “I, Jehovah God, uttered, declared and proclaimed to the proud boasters and people who act madly”, “deal not foolishly” which means “do not be boastful or act madly”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God told the people who were boastful and acting like mad men to stop being that way.
The verse continues, “and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:” Asaph added the words, “and to the wicked” or “and to the criminal, guilty of crime and sin and those who are hostile to God”, “lift not up the horn” which means “do not exalt, raise or extol the flask, cornet or peak which are symbols of power”. Asaph shared how Jehovah God instructed people who are evil and hostile to Him not to exalt their power in His presence.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how Jehovah God directs His words to people who boast and act like mad men. He wanted them to stop their ways. He also addressed people who are criminal and evil, and He directed them not to exalt their power. God knows people often boast of themselves and their accomplishments even though they could do nothing without Him. (See John 15:5) God loves people, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with them through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and attend to boasters, madmen, evil people and those who exalt their power.
Next time Asaph says, “lift not up your horn on high”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
