In Psalms chapter seventy-two David said of the royal ruler, “He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight”, and in chapter seventy-two and verse fifteen of Psalms David said, “he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba” where we read,
And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba:
prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.
The verse begins, “And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba:” David began with the words, “and he shall live” or “and he, the royal ruler, will remain alive, sustain life, live prosperously and quickened”, “and to him shall be given” which means “and toward the royal ruler will be granted, bestowed and delivered” “of the gold of Sheba” or “the precious, brilliant and splendorous metal gold from Sheba whose name means seven or an oath and was a nation in southern Arabia”. David said the royal ruler would remain alive and have the precious and brilliant metal of gold from “Sheba” delivered to him.
The verse continues, “prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.” David added the words, “prayer also shall be made for him” or “intervention, interpose, supplication and intercession even so and indeed will be produced and ready-made” “continually” which means “perpetually, continuously and regularly”; “and daily” or “and every daytime” “shall he be praised” which means “will he, the royal ruler, exist as blessed, adored and saluted”. David said orations and intercessions would be ready-made for the royal ruler on a regular basis each and every day.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David understood that the royal ruler, his son Solomon, who was blessed by Jehovah God would continue living and be given the “gold” from “Sheba”. (See 1 Kings 10:1-13) People in his kingdom would intercede on his behalf on a regular basis, and every day they would honor and adore him. In other words, the king would bless his people, and they would bless him. God desires to have people who are blessed by His Son Jesus, and He wants people to bless Him in return. When God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He offered salvation from sins and eternal life to everyone, and we may join those who have faith and trust in Jesus by giving Him praise, honor and glory for all eternity.
Next time David says, “there shall be an handful of corn in the earth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
