In Psalms chapter seventy-one David said, “In you, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. Deliver me in your righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline your ear unto me, and save me”, and in chapter seventy-one and verse three of Psalms David said, “Be you my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort” where we read,
Be you my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort:
you have given commandment to save me; for you are my rock and my fortress.
The verse begins, “Be you my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort:” David began with the words, “be you my strong habitation” or “you, Jehovah God, exist as my, David's, rock, block of stone, boulder of dwelling, refuge, lair and dwelling”, “whereunto I may continually resort” which means “to where and whom I, David, perpetually, continuously and constantly may be brought in, introduced and set”. David beckoned Jehovah God to exist as his fortified dwelling place to whom he could perpetually come.
The verse goes on to say, “you have given commandment to save me; for you are my rock and my fortress.” David continued with the words, “you have given commandment” or “you, Jehovah God, have provided, granted and bestowed a charge, commission and appointment” “to save me” which means “to rescue, liberate and deliver me, David”; “for you are my rock” or “because, since and on account that you, Jehovah God, exist as my, David's, crag, cliff and stronghold” “and my fortress” which means “and my, David's, defense, castle and strong place”. David referred to how Jehovah God gave a command to rescue him, and he called God his stronghold and defense.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David appealed to Jehovah God to exist as the safe place to which he constantly resorted. He noted God's command to rescue him, and he acknowledge the fact that Jehovah God was his stronghold and defense. God desires to be the refuge of every person, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and have Jehovah God as our refuge, habitation and stronghold.
Next time David says, “Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
