You Divide the Sea by Your Strength - Psalms 74:13

In Psalms chapter seventy-four Asaph said,For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth”, and in chapter seventy-four and verse thirteen of Psalms Asaph said, You did divide the sea by your strengthwhere we read,

You did divide the sea by your strength: you break the heads of the dragons in the waters.

The verse begins, You did divide the sea by your strength:” Asaph began with the words, “you did divide the sea” or “you, Divine judge Jehovah God, violently split, broke apart and separated the large body of water such as the Red Sea” “by your strength” which means “through the means of your, the Divine judge Jehovah God's, power, might and ability”. Asaph referred to the way the Divine judge Jehovah God separated the “large body of water” by means of His power and might.

The verse continues, you break the heads of the dragons in the waters.” Asaph added the words, “you break the heads” or “you, Divine judge Jehovah God, violently wreck, crush, maim and cripple the top, summit, upper part and tip top of the physical heads” “of the dragons” which means “belonging to the serpent, sea monster or venomous snake” “in the waters” or “within the water-springs, watercourses or floods”. Asaph shared how the Divine judge Jehovah God also crushed the upper part of the heads of serpents.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Asaph began to remind God of His powerful victories in the past. Asaph mentioned God's power over the “large bodies of waters”, and his crushing of the “heads” of sea monsters or serpents. The idea is that God is more powerful than all of His creation. There is no lack of power and might with God, and because He desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, He sent Him to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind because they separated us from Him. When we surrender our lives to Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and demonstrate His power over any of His creation any time He desires.

Next time Asaph says, You break the heads of the leviathan in pieces, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
