The Mountains Bringing Peace - Psalms 72:3

In Psalms chapter seventy-two David said, “Give the king your judgments, O God, and your righteousness unto the king's son. He shall judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with judgment”, and in chapter seventy-two and verse three of Psalms David said, “the mountains shall bring peace to the people” where we read,

The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.

The verse begins, The mountains shall bring peace to the people, ... David began with the words, “the mountains” or “the range of hill-countries” “shall bring peace” which means “will lift, bear up, carry, support and sustain completeness, soundness, welfare and safety” “to the people” or “toward the compatriots, country-men, kinsman, kindred and nation”. David shared how the range of hills would support and sustain God's nation of country-men.

The verse continues,... and the little hills, by righteousness. David added the words, “and the little hills” or “and the small risings that are smaller than a mountain”, “by righteousness” which means “through the means of rightness, justice, truthfulness, justification and salvation”. David said the smaller “hills” would support and sustain the nation through the means of justice and salvation.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through David how the surrounding terrain was to become a harbinger of peace and safety for his nation because Jehovah God governs over them. God becomes our provision and protection when we surrender to His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. Our sins will be forgiven and we shall inherit everlasting life with Him when we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, and He will bring us “peace” and security as we yield to Him.

Next time David says, “He shall judge the poor of the people”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
