God is to Be Feared - Psalms 76:7

In Psalms chapter seventy-six Asaph said, “The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands. At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep”, and in chapter seventy-six and verse seven of Psalms Asaph says to Jehovah God, you, are to be fearedwhere we read,

You, even you, are to be feared: and who may stand in your sight when once you are angry?

The verse begins, You, even you, are to be feared: Asaph began with the words, “you, even you” or “you, Jehovah God, indeed and also you, Divine judge Jehovah God”, “are to be feared” which means “are to be revered, held in awe and dreaded in astonishment”. Asaph declared Jehovah God is to be revered, held in awe and astonished by everyone.

The verse continues, and who may stand in your sight when once you are angry? Asaph added the words, “and who may stand” or “and what person whether male or female is able to remain, be erected and endure” “in your sight” which means “within your, Jehovah God's, person, front and presence” “when once you are angry” or “at the time and moment that you, Jehovah God, exist with a wrinkled nose of wrath, ire and forbearing”? Asaph asked what person was able to remain and endure within the vision and presence of Jehovah God at the time He becomes filled with wrath.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Asaph how Jehovah God is to be held in awe and reverence because there is no one who is able to remain before Him at the time He becomes filled with wrath. God is a God of love, however, the Bible tells us there is another side of God Him that becomes “angry”. He knows people are in a lost condition as long as they remain out of relationship with His Son Jesus whom He sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and never be appointed unto His wrath. (See 1 Thessalonians 5:19). God is for us and will never be against us unless we refuse to receive His Son Jesus into our lives.

Next time Asaph says to Jehovah God, you did cause judgment to be heard from heaven, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
