The Stouthearted - Psalms 76:5

In Psalms chapter seventy-six Asaph said to Jehovah God, “You are more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey”, and in chapter seventy-six and verse five of Psalms Asaph said, the stouthearted are spoiledwhere we read,

The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep:

and none of the men of might have found their hands.

The verse begins, The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: Asaph began with the words, “the stouthearted” or “the mighty, valiant, chiefest and bull like” “are spoiled” which means “exist as plundered, made a prey and stripped”, “they have slept” or “they, the stouthearted, have slumbered and become drowsy in” “their sleep” which means “their, the stouthearted's, sleep of death”. Asaph said the people who are mighty and valiant exist as plundered and stripped, and they have been caused to come to their last sleep or death.

The verse continues, and none of the men of might have found their hands. Asaph added the words, “and none of the men of might” or “and not one or any of the people who are strong and with strength, valor, virtue and worthiness ” “have found their hands” which means “have discovered, attained, acquired and secured their, the men of might's, hands of power and authority”. Asaph said not any of the powerful people of valor have discovered the ability of their “hands” to come against Asaph and his people.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see through Asaph how people who are mighty and valiant are stripped of their power, and they actually die before Asaph and his people. Not any of those powerful people were able to discover the ability of their strength to come against Asaph and his people. God is able to contend against any enemy that arises against Him regardless of how powerful or valiant they may be. He is able to subdue anyone who rises against His people, and because He knows the devil and his demons desire to destroy every person, He sent Jesus into the world to die for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, the enemy is stripped of his power, and his ability becomes dead in our lives because God forgives our sins, grants us everlasting life and defeats the desire of the enemy to destroy the people of God.

Next time Asaph shares what happens, at your rebuke, O God of Jacob, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
