In Psalms chapter seventy-seven Asaph said, “The waters saw you, O God, the waters saw you; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled. The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: your arrows also went abroad”, and in chapter seventy-seven and verse eighteen of Psalms Asaph said, “the voice of your thunder was in the heaven” where we read,
The voice of your thunder was in the heaven:
the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.
The verse begins, “The voice of your thunder was in the heaven:” Asaph began with the words, “the voice of your thunder” or “the sound and noise belonging to your, Jehovah God's, thunder-cloud” “was in the heaven” which means “existed within the wheeling and rolling whirlwind”. Asaph referred to the noise and sound of Jehovah God's thunder-cloud which was revealed in the rolling whirlwind.
The verse goes on to say, “the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.” Asaph continued with the words, “the lightnings” or “the lightning flashes like arrow heads” “lightened the world” which means “illuminated, caused to shine and brightened the country, region, territory, land and habitable part of the world”: “the earth trembled” or “the land, country, territory, district and region quaked, quivered and was agitated, excited and perturbed” “and shook” which means “and was made to quake, spring or leap”. Asaph mentioned the illumination and quaking within the “world” because of the “flashes of lightning” in the skies.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how Asaph mentioned more mighty works of Almighty God. Thunder, lightning, brightness and quaking are all according to God's power, and He demonstrates them through His creative ability. This powerful all knowing God is willing to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and show Himself strong and mighty wherever we have need. May all praise, honor and glory be unto Jehovah God for His mighty acts and deeds that He willingly performs and allows us to see.
Next time Asaph says, “your way is in the sea”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
