When God Arose to Judgment - Psalms 76:9

In Psalms chapter seventy-six Asaph said to Jehovah God, “You, even you, are to be feared: and who may stand in your sight when once you are angry? You did cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still, ...”, and in chapter seventy-six and verse nine of Psalms Asaph shares what happened, when God arose to judgmentwhere we read,

When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

The verse begins, When God arose to judgment, ... Asaph began with the words, “when God arose” or “at the time and moment the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God stood up, became powerful and was fixed” “to judgment” which means “to decide a case and oversee process, procedure, litigation and cause” for the following reason. Asaph shared about the time Jehovah God stood to oversee process, procedure and litigation.

The verse continues,to save all the meek of the earth. Selah. Asaph added the words, “to save all the meek” or “to deliver, liberate and make victorious the poor, humble, afflicted and weak” “of the earth” which means “belonging to the country, region, territory and world”. “Selah” or “uplift, exalt and pause to meditate upon it”. Asaph said the reason God stood up to judge was to rescue and liberate the humble and poor people within the world, and anyone who read his words should pause to meditate upon this idea.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Asaph about Jehovah God's judging over the affairs of mankind. He rises to oversee the process, procedure and litigation of people who are poor and needy because He is purposed to deliver them. God wants to save people, and because sin causes them to exist in a condemned state, (See John 3:17) He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. God loves us, and when we yield to His Son Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and rescue us when we come to Him.

Next time Asaph says, surely the wrath of man shall praise you, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
