In Psalms chapter eighty four the Psalmist proclaimed, “How amiable are your tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!”, and in chapter eighty four and verse two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the LORD”, where we read,
My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the LORD:
my heart and my flesh cries out for the living God.
The verse begins, “My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the LORD:” the Psalmist began with the words, “My soul longs” or “the Psalmist's inner man, mind, will, desire, living being and seat of emotions and passions deeply pines, desires and pales”, “yes, even faints” which means “even so and indeed is determined, fulfilled, exhausted and spent” “for the courts” or “for the enclosures, settled abodes, villages and towns” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist shared how his inner man, mind and will deeply desired to enter once again into the settled abodes which belonged to Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “my heart and my flesh cries out for the living God.” The Psalmist added the words, “my heart” or “my, the Psalmist's, inner man, mind, will, understanding, knowledge, reflection, memory, inclination, resolution, determination, conscience and seat of emotions and passions” “and my flesh” which means “and my, the Psalmist's, physical body” “cries out” or “shouts aloud, gives a ringing cry and emits a stridulous sound” “for the living God” which means “toward the alive, flowing and active One True God - Jehovah”. The Psalmist said his inner man, mind, will and body were shouting aloud for the alive and active Jehovah God.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist is passionate and “fainting” for the dwelling places of Jehovah God, and his inner man, soul and mind shouted aloud for the alive and active Almighty God. God wants people to desire Him in this manner, and He is willing to forgive the sins of every person who believes and trusts in His Son Jesus who was crucified for the sins of the world. When we surrender our lives and cry out to Him, He receives us into fellowship with Him, and we shall forever give Him praise, honor and glory as we long for Him and His “courts”.
Next time the Psalmist says, “the sparrow has found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
