How Amiable are Your Tabernacles - Psalms 84:1

Psalms chapter eighty four begins with the heading, [[To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.]]” which breaks down, “to the chief Musician” or “to the preeminent, overseeing superintendent or chief choir director“upon Gittith” which means “on a wine press or Gittite harp”, “A Psalm” or “a melody or poem set to notes“for the sons of Korah” which means “on behalf and toward the offspring and progeny belonging to Korah whose name means bald”, and in chapter eighty four and verse one of Psalms the Psalmist said, “How amiable are your tabernacles, O LORD of hosts”, where we read,

How amiable are your tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!

The verse begins, How amiable are your tabernacles, ... the Psalmist began with the words, “How amiable” or “how well-beloved and lovely“are your tabernacles” which means “exists your, Jehovah God's, dwelling places, habitations or tents”. The Psalmist said the dwelling places and habitations of Jehovah God are lovely and well-beloved.

The verse goes on to say,... O LORD of hosts! the Psalmist continued with the words, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” “of hosts” which means “over the armies of angels, messengers and envoys”! The Psalmist referred to Jehovah God who rules and reigns over the multitudes of angels as he spoke of His “tabernacles”.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist made mention of the lovely and well-beloved “tabernacles” of Jehovah God. This was the gathering place for the people of God, and it is where they worshiped Him corporately. Every person should worship Jehovah God because He gave them life, breath and His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. He invites everyone to worship Him by receiving Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, and when we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and guide us step by step how to live while He rules over angels.

Next time Asaph says, “My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
