Gabriel Visits the Virgin Mary - Luke 1:27

Luke the physician wrote, “in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth”, and in chapter one and verse twenty-seven where we read:

To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph,

of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

The verse reads, “To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, ... Luke began with the words, “to a virgin” or “to a woman who has never had sexual intercourse with a man” “espoused to a man” which means “promised and betrothed in marriage to a male human being” “whose name was Joseph” or “who was called and surnamed Joseph which means let him add”. Luke shared how the “angel Gabriel” went to a woman who was “betrothed” to a man whose name means “let him add”.

The verse goes on to say, “... of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.” Luke continued with the words, “of the house of David” which means “belonging to the stock, family and descendants of King David of Israel whose name means beloved”; “and the virgin's name” or “and the name of the woman who had never had sexual intercourse with a man” “was Mary” which means “was Mary which means their rebellion”. Luke shared how “Joseph” was from the lineage of “King David”, and his betrothed “virgin” was named “Mary”.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn to whom the “angel Gabriel” was sent. He was dispatched to a young woman named “Mary” who was “betrothed” to a man named “Joseph” who was from the lineage and family of “King David”. God's plan for the salvation of mankind was fully in effect as it was necessary to have a “virgin” to birth His Son, and He knew who both the woman and her earthly husband would be. God desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and as He reveals His plan step by step to “save” people from their sins, let all who read these words yield their lives to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”.

Next time Luke shares how, “the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, you that are highly favored, the Lord is with you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
