Prepared Before the Face of All - Luke 2:31

Luke the physician wrote how, “there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now let your servant depart in peace, according to your word: For my eyes have seen your salvation, ...”, and in chapter two and verse thirty-one of his book Luke shared how Simeon continues by saying, “which you have prepared” where we read:

Which you have prepared before the face of all people;

The verse reads, “Which you have prepared ...” Luke began with the words, “which you” or “that God” “have prepared” which means “made ready, provided and secured”. Luke shared how Simeon continued his statement about God's salvation as he referred to how God “secured” His “Savior” well in advance of sending Him.

The verse goes on to say, “... before the face of all people,” Luke continued with the words, “before the face” which means “in the presence and in front” “of all people” or “of each, every, the whole, all and everyone of the human beings whether male or female”. Luke shared how God “prepared” His “salvation” “in the presence” of “every person” who lives.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we learn how Simeon knew Joseph and Mary's child Jesus was “made ready and provided” in the “presence” of “all people”. In other words, God desired for every person to know about His plan of “salvation” through His Son Jesus. All of time changed when Jesus was born as it was known as “B.C” and “A.D”, anyone who takes the time to examine all the details and preparation for Jesus to be born should find Him worthy to be worshiped and adored as “Savior and Lord” for all eternity.

Next time Luke shares how Simeon continues by saying, “a light to lighten the Gentiles”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
