Luke the physician wrote how the “angel Gabriel” told Mary she would “bring forth a son” who would “be called the Son of the Highest”. He also told her, “your cousin Elisabeth, she has also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren”, and in chapter one and verse thirty-seven of his book Luke shares how “Gabriel” told Mary, “with God nothing shall be impossible” where we read:
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
The verse reads, “For with God ...” Luke began with the word, “for” or “because, since and on account that”“with God” which means “alongside, near and in proximity of the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Luke began to share the principle by which “God” has the ability to effect the following.
The verse goes on to say, “... nothing shall be impossible”. Luke continued with the word, “nothing” which means “not one thing” “shall be impossible” or “will exist as not having the strength, power or ability to be done”. Luke shared how there is not one thing that can be done that God does not have the ability to perform.
When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we see how “Gabriel” set forth a principle from God of which all people should take note. When things seem “impossible” for man, such as making a woman beyond the child-bearing years pregnant or making a virgin pregnant”, they are not “impossible” with God. God is able to do “miracles” within people's lives, and because they are in need of “salvation”, He sent His Son Jesus as their “sacrifice” and “offering” that provided forgiveness and cleansing which is necessary to have a personal relationship with Him. May all who read these words consider the “possibilities” with God and never underestimate His ability to do what no other person can do.
Next time Luke shares how Mary says, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
