Servants Say Your Son Lives - John 4:51

John the apostle wrote concerning Jesus, “Now after two days he departed from there, and went into Galilee. For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet has no honor in his own country. Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast. So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. Then said Jesus unto him, Except you see signs and wonders, you will not believe. The nobleman said unto him, Sir, come down before my child dies. Jesus said unto him, Go your way; your son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way”, and in chapter four and verse fifty one of his book, John shared how the nobleman's servants say to him, “your son lives” where we read:

And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Your son lives.

The verse reads,And as he was now going down, his servants met him, ...”. John began with the words, “And as he was now going down” or “and while and during the time the nobleman was traveling and journeying toward his home”, “his servants” which means “the nobleman's men of servile condition, slaves and bondmen” “met him” or “encountered the nobleman”. John shared how the “nobleman's servants” “met him” as he was journeying toward his home.

The verse continues, “... and told him, saying, Your son lives.” John added the words, “and told him” which means “and brought tidings to, proclaimed and declared to the nobleman”, “saying” or “uttering, declaring and proclaiming”, “your son lives” which means “your, the nobleman's, male prodigy and offspring is alive”. John shared how the “nobleman's servants” proclaimed to him that his son was “alive”.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we can imagine the joy that filled the nobleman's heart when he heard his son was alive. Jesus healed his son from a distance, and because the nobleman believed Jesus, his desire was provided and confirmed. God desires to help people physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually through a relationship with His Son Jesus. Anyone who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of theirs sins, receive everlasting life from God and enjoy His presence in every difficult circumstance they encounter.

Next time John shares how the nobleman, “inquired of them the hour when he began to amend”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
