John the apostle wrote how Jesus healed a man who had an infirmity for thirty-eight years, and he carried his bed on the sabbath day as instructed by Jesus on the sabbath day. “The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day:it is not lawful for you to carry your bed. He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up your bed, and walk. Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto you, Take up your bed, and walk? And he that was healed did not know who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, you are made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto you”, and in chapter five and verse fifteen of his book, John shared how, “the man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus” where we read:
The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
The verse reads, “The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, ...”. John began with the words, “the man departed” or “the male human being who was healed of his thirty-eight year infirmity left and went forth”, “and told the Jews” which means “and informed the people within the Jewish nation by origin, birth and religion” “that it was Jesus” or “that the man who healed him was the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate”. John shared how the man who was healed of the thirty-eight year infirmity left Jesus and informed the “Jewish people” that “Jesus” was the following.
The verse continues, “... which had made him whole.” John added the words, “which had made him” which means “who produced, formed, fashioned and prepared the man as” “whole” or “sound, restored to health and healthy”. John shared how it was Jesus who “healed” the man and “restored him to health”.
When we think through John's words in this verse, we learn how the man healed from the thirty-eight year infirmity left the temple to tell the Jewish people that Jesus “made him whole”. We are not certain why this man felt such an obligation to the Jewish people, but nonetheless, he told them. Jesus came to “heal, cure, save and grant forgiveness” to every person who will yield their life to Him, and when they do, they shall inherit “eternal and everlasting life”. Let all who read these words know it is Jesus who saves, Jesus who heals, Jesus who forgives and Jesus who promises eternal life to everyone who submits to Him.
Next time see John shares, “therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
