In Psalms chapter forty nine David said, “They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him. (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceases for ever:) That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption”, and in chapter forty nine and verse ten of Psalms David shared how God, “sees that wise men die” where we read,
For he sees that wise men die,
likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
The verse begins, “For he sees that wise men die, ...” David began with the words, “for he sees” or “because, since and on account that he, Jehovah God, observes, notices and considers” “that wise men die” which means “that cunning, skillful, shrewd, crafty, prudent and learned people whether male or female are put to or experience death”. David said Jehovah God observes that people stop living and breathing.
The verse continues, “... likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.” David added the words, “likewise the fool” or “in the same manner and likeness the stupid fellow, dullard, simpleton and arrogant one” “and the brutish person perish” which means “and the concretely and absolutely stupid human being both male and female vanish, are exterminated and put to death”, “and leave their wealth” or “and loose, forsake, abandon, neglect and apostatize their strength, might, efficiency and ability” “to others” which means “toward other people”. David said people who are simpletons and stupid are seen by God, and because of the brevity of their lives, when they die they forsake their riches and efficiencies.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how God observes the death of every person, and whether they are “dullards and stupid”, they will “abandon” to others everything they have gathered together in their lives. God owns everything, and He allows people to possess them for a small amount of time. However, everything will be left behind when we leave this world. God loves us and wants us to live with Him forever, and when we submit ourselves to Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to oversee His belongings while we live. We must always keep in mind that “it is all His”, and when we understand that idea, we will hold everything with a loose grip till the end of our days.
Next time David shares how, “Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
