In Psalms chapter forty nine David said, “They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him. (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceases for ever:)”, and in chapter forty nine and verse nine of Psalms David shared, “that he should still live for ever” where we read,
That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
The verse begins, “That he should still live for ever, ...” David began with the words, “that he should still live” or “so the wealthy person's brother will continue to be alive” “for ever” which means “to perpetuity, everlastingness and unto continual existence”. David said the wealthy person's brother would be alive unto continual existence in the following condition.
The verse goes on to say, “... and not see corruption.” David continued with the words, “and not see” or “and in no way or manner observe, notice or discern” “corruption” which means “the pit, destruction, grave and the trap of hell”. David said the wealthy person's brother would in no way observe or experience destruction and the trap of hell without the redemption of God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David spoke of the continual existence of the soul of the brother of the person who is wealthy, and because their money could in no way save their “brother”, they would not prevent destruction and the trap of hell for their eternal life. God knows the eternal fate of every person, and because everyone is already in a condemned state, (See John 3:17) God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us eternal life and redeem us unto a continual existence.
Next time David shares how God, “sees that wise men die”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
