In Psalms chapter seventy David said, “Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD”, and in chapter seventy and verse two of Psalms David said, “Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul” where we read,
Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul:
let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.
The verse begins, “Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul:” David began with the words, “let them be ashamed” or “allow and permit the following people to exist as disconcerted and disappointed” “and confounded” which means “and shamed, abashed and embarrassed” “that seek after my soul” or “who request, require, desire, demand and look for, my, David's, inner man, heart, mind, living being and seat of emotions and passions”. David appealed to Jehovah God to allow the people who demanded his “soul” to exist as disconcerted, disappointed, abashed and embarrassed.
The verse goes on to say, “let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.” David continued with the words, “let them be turned backward” or “allow and permit the people who looked for David's soul to be moved, backslid, proven recreant, driven back and repulsed”, “and put to confusion” which means “and insulted, humiliated, blushed and reproached”, “that desire my hurt” or “who delight and have pleasure in my, David's, bad, evil, malignancy and vicious actions”. David wanted Jehovah God to drive back, repulse and humiliate the people who delighted in the evil and vicious actions he encountered.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David wanted the people who demanded his inner man, heart and mind, to be humiliated and embarrassed, and he wanted Jehovah God to drive them back and insult them because they took pleasure in David's harm. God knew this, and David understood how to bring their behavior before Jehovah God. God wants to have a personal relationship with every person who surrenders to His Son Jesus, and He will forgive our sins and grant us eternal life when we trust in, rely upon and cling to Him. We who believe in Him may give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for providing our means of salvation and our defense against those who oppose us and take pleasure in our pain.
Next time David says, “Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
