Aha, Aha - Psalms 70:3

In Psalms chapter seventy David said, “Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD. Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt”, and in chapter seventy and verse three of Psalms David referred to those who said, “Aha, aha” where we read,

Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha

The verse begins, Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame ... David began with the words, “let them be turned back” or “allow and permit them, the people who seek for David's soul and desire his hurt, to be returned, lead away, apostatized and horrified” “for a reward” which means “as a consequence, gain and compensation” “of their shame” or “pertaining to their, the people who were opposed to David's, great confusion and by implication an idol”. David beckoned Jehovah God to allow the people who sought for his “soul” and “desired his hurt” to suffer consequences and compensation for their great confusion.

The verse continues,... that say, Aha, aha. David added the words, “that say” or “who utter, declare and proclaim”, “Aha, aha” which means “so would we have it or this is our desire”. David said the people who came against him also proclaimed the words, “aha, aha” or this is the way we would have it.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David desired to have his foes dealt with by Jehovah God. He wanted God to allow them to be lead away and horrified for their confusion because they mocked him by saying they wanted it this way. God knows the afflictions people suffer, and He is aware of the people who are delighted in the pain of others. Often these people are heard saying, “aha, aha” when they see them lose. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and contend with those who mock us by saying “aha, aha”.

Next time David says, “Let all those that seek you rejoice and be glad in you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
