The LORD Reigns Psalms 96:10

In Psalms ninety-six the Psalmist said, “O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth”, and in chapter ninety-six and verse ten of Psalms the Psalmist said, “say among the heathen that the LORD reigns” where we read,

Say among the heathen that the LORD reigns: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.

The verse begins, Say among the heathen that the LORD reigns: The Psalmist began with the words, “Say among the heathen” or “utter, declare and proclaim in the midst of the non-Hebrew, foreign and pagan nations and people” “that the LORD” which means “that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “reigns” or “counsels, consults, ascends to the throne and rules”. The Psalmist instructed his readers and listeners to proclaim to the heathen and pagan nations that Jehovah God gives counsel and rules.

The verse continues, the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: The Psalmist added the words, “the world also” or “the habitable part of the world even so and indeed” “shall be established” which means “will exist as made firm, stable, fixed and firmly secure” “that it shall not be moved” or “that the world will in no way and manner totter, shake, slip or be overthrown”. The Psalmist said the habitable “world” would even so and indeed be firmly fixed in place so that it will in no way or manner be shaken or overthrown.

Finally the verse says, “he shall judge the people righteously.” The Psalmist ended the verse by saying, “he shall judge” or “he, Jehovah God, will contend, plead and minister judgment on behalf of” “the people” which refers to “the human beings whether male or female” “righteously” which means “in an upright, equal, straight, level and equitable manner”. The Psalmist concluded this verse by declaring that Jehovah God will contend and plead for human beings in a right, just and equitable manner.

When we consider the words in this verse, we discover how the Psalmist wanted his readers and listeners to proclaim to the people in the world concerning Jehovah God's ruling, and because He ascends to the throne, He shall fix in place the world according to His purposes and plans. We can be assured that Jehovah God will minister judgment upon people in a just and right manner, and because everyone will stand before Him some day, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and preserve us in our time of judgment. Jesus Christ paid the price for our errors and wrongs, and because we believe in Him, God's judgment upon us will be filtered through His righteousness.

Next time the Psalmist says, “let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
