In Psalms ninety-six the Psalmist said, “Say among the heathen that the LORD reigns: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously”, and in chapter ninety-six and verse eleven of Psalms the Psalmist said, “let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad” where we read,
Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof.
The verse begins, “Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;” The Psalmist began with the words, “let the heavens rejoice” or “allow and permit the visible skies, atmosphere, abode of the stars and the dwelling of Jehovah God exult, be gladdened and gleeful”, “and let the earth” which means “and allow the land, ground, territory, region and world to” “be glad” or “exist as exulted and joyful”. The Psalmist desired that the skies, atmosphere and abode of Jehovah God to be gleeful and the world to exult and be joyful.
The verse goes on to say, “let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “let the sea roar” or “allow and permit the large waters such as the Dead Sea, Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea thunder, rage and tremble”, “and the fullness thereof” which means “and the mass, multitude and completeness within the sea”. The Psalmist called upon the large waters such as the seas to rage in their completeness before Jehovah God.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist desired that the skies, atmosphere and dwelling of Jehovah God would be filled with glee and the world to be joyful. He wanted the large bodies of water to rage within it's completeness and fullness. In other words, heaven, earth and the sea were to be filled with joy over Jehovah God. He created them all, and even as everyone in the world is invited to make His Son Jesus “Savior and Lord” of their lives, we have the opportunity to praise Him as well. Jesus was sent from Heaven to the earth to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to join with all creation in being joyful and giving Him praise.
Next time the Psalmist says, “let the field be joyful … the trees of the wood rejoice”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
