Exalt the LORD Our God - Psalms 99:5

In Psalms ninety-nine the Psalmist said, “The king's strength also loves judgment; you do establish equity, you execute judgment and righteousness in Jacob”, and in chapter ninety-nine and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “exalt you the LORD our God” where we read,

Exalt you the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

The verse begins, Exalt you the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool: The Psalmist began with the words, “Exalt you” or “be lofty, lift up and be set on high, you, people reading and listening to the Psalmist's words” “the LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “our God” or “our, the Psalmist and the people's, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “and worship” which means “and bow down, prostrate yourselves and give homage, reverence and obeisance” “at his footstool” or “at his, Jehovah God's, stool upon which to rest a leg or foot”. The Psalmist called upon the people to lift up and make lofty Jehovah God who is the divine and Supreme God.

The verse continues, for he is holy. The Psalmist added the words, “for he” or “because, since and on account that he, Jehovah God” “is holy” which means “exist as set apart, separate and ceremonially and morally sacred”. The Psalmist said the reason people should exalt Jehovah God and worship at His footstool is because He is “sacred and set apart” from all others.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover how the Psalmist wanted all people to lift up Jehovah God who is the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God, and those who recognize Him for who He is, will gladly “worship at his footstool” because He is completely sacred. This “holy” God desires to have a personal relationship with “unholy” mankind, and that relationship was made possible through His Son Jesus who was crucified for the sins of the world. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, we will be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with Him. Let us “exalt” Jehovah God and “worship at His footstool” because He is “holy” and worthy to be praised.

Next time the Psalmist shares about, “Moses, Aaron and Samuel”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
